Ryan Evans named STAR Student for Greene County High School
Greensboro, Ga. – Greene County High School senior Ryan Evans has been named the school’s 2023 PAGE STAR Student. Patricia Randolph, the local STAR program sponsor, announced the honor on January 5, 2023. Evans selected Megan Calicott, a science teacher at Greene County High School, as his STAR Teacher. Evans is the son of Mr. Ward Evans of Greensboro and is a GCHS All-A Honor Roll student.
Throughout Ryan’s four years at GCHS, he has received numerous academic accolades, all well-deserved. Following graduation, he plans to pursue a biology degree at The University of Georgia in the fall. Ryan is a gifted, honor student and makes it his goal to challenge himself with AP courses and Dual Enrollment classes at Athens Tech. He has played on the Varsity Tiger Baseball team for the past four years. In addition to being an honor student and participating in the school’s sports program, Ryan enjoys spending time practicing and playing baseball year-round with a traveling baseball team.
“I have had the pleasure of getting to know Ryan over the past few years as a teacher at GCHS, and there could not be a more deserving student," remarked Patricia Randolph. "Ryan is not only a great student, but his character is impeccable. He will do great things in the future, and we all look forward to seeing all he accomplishes.”
Evans and Hailey Heinen of Lake Oconee Academy are the finalists for District 4 as the top two STAR Students for Greene County from the participating schools. The winner will compete for regional honors. Greene County’s Region winner will be announced January 19, 2023. The winner will contend for the honor of being named State PAGE STAR Student. STAR Teachers continue on with their STAR Students at every level of the program.
