CMS Assistant Principal DeAndra Lanier receives 2019 Hal Beaver Georgia Outstanding Assistant Principal Award

Mrs. DeAndra Lanier accepts the 2019 Hal Beaver Outstanding Assistant Principal Award

Anita White Carson Middle School Assistant Principal Mrs. DeAndra Lanier received the 2019 Hal Beaver Georgia Outstanding Assistant Principal Award at the annual GAESP/GAMSP Fall Conference on Nov. 3.

The award’s namesake, Mr. Hal Beaver, was a long time Georgia elementary principal and a past National Distinguished Principal. He started and conducts the GAEL Aspiring Principals Program and has helped to develop many outstanding assistant principals in the state through his leadership.

Mrs. Lanier was nominated for the award by CMS Principal Dr. Russell Brock.

“Ms. Lanier was nominated based on her outstanding job performance and willingness to be flexible and work wherever needed in the school system,” Dr. Brock said. “She has moved schools 4 times in the last 5 years based on the needs of the system and has done an outstanding job everywhere she has been. She served as interim principal of Greensboro Elementary School last year and made great improvements there as well. She is dependable and knowledgeable and we work seamlessly together to move our students forward.”

Mrs. Lanier is a native of Greene County and a product of the Greene County School System. Prior to serving as Interim Principal at GES last year, she had served as Assistant Principal at CMS, the GCHS Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction and also several years in administration at GES before all of that!

Always up for a challenge, Mrs. Lanier has been involved in many activities at CMS - most recently representing the school district in Leadership Greene with the Greene County Chamber of Commerce.

“It is an honor to be recognized by my colleagues,” Mrs. Lanier said. “It is with great pleasure I accept this award from an organization that promotes high professional standards.”
