The Greene County Board of Education intends to opt out of House Bill 581, the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption, and will hold three public hearings on January 16th, January 23rd, and February 25th.

On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, the long-awaited new Greene County Elementary School was officially opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony and community open house.

The Greene County School System (GCSS) has named four 8th grade students to this year’s class of REACH Georgia Scholarship recipients. Jaxxon Armour, Jaylen Greene, and Ma’Chal Teemer from Anita White Carson Middle School and Taylor Wheeler from Lake Oconee Academy make up the Greene County School System's eighth class of REACH scholars since the school system joined the program in 2017.

The Greene County School System Finance Department was presented the Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting for the seventh consecutive year by the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts on Thursday, September 19 at the Greene County Board of Education monthly meeting.

The Greene County School System (GCSS) announces the kickoff of its 2024-25 attendance campaign, embracing the national theme from Attendance Works: "Be Present, Be Powerful." September is Attendance Awareness Month, and this year's campaign is a continuation of the district's ongoing efforts to combat chronic absenteeism, a challenge that has affected schools nationwide.
