About School Nutrition

  • Our Nutrition Program strives to provide appealing, nutritious meals for all students and staff in our schools. Students are offered choices of food items in our program. These choices increase as students move from elementary to middle and high school. Meals must meet requirements of the USDA and the School Nutrition Division of the Georgia Department of Education. These requirements regulate nutritional quality and quantity of the foods served in our cafeterias.

Greene County operates the School Nutrition Program under Community Eligibility Provision guidelines. This means that we do not charge students for meals. We operate our program with the federal and state reimbursements we receive. Students only pay money in the cafeteria when they purchase extra portions over and above the complete meal they are given at no charge.

Greene County is proud to be able to operate the School Nutrition Program under the Community Eligiablity Provision guidelines because we can focus on feeding hungry students nutritious meals. The employees of the school nutrition program care about our students and work hard to do what is best for them.
