Importance of Communication

  • Effective communication is crucial for building school-community partnerships. It creates the foundation for all other forms of family and community involvement in education. Our District's five year Strategic Plan calls for improved communication systems within our school district.

In an effort to keep you informed of what is going on inside our school and school district, we have established several means of communication, which we hope will keep you informed about what is going on in our school district as it relates to student, staff, parents and community activities. On the left, you will find several of our 'communication links'. It is our objective to improve internal and external communications with the specific goal of creating open communication between the Board of Education, administration, staff, students, parents and the community.

    Mission

The mission of the Department of Communications is to support the Greene County School System’s mission, vision and strategic goals by promoting transparent and strategic communication; building trust and productive relationships with parents, the community and other stakeholders; and celebrating the district’s progress.

    Beliefs

We believe we have the responsibility to communicate effectively with our constituents, that meaningful public engagement supports our goals, and that effective communication:

    • Is a two-way process involving both internal and external stakeholders
    • Is the responsibility of every employee in the district
    • Supports teaching and learning
    • Helps increase student achievement

Media Requests: For media requests to visit schools, interview staff, and/or to cover school or district events, the first point of contact is the Communications Department. In an effort to streamline communications, requests made through other avenues will be redirected to the Director of Communications. Responses will be made in a timely manner to all stakeholders.

We have many good things going on in our school district. We hope having different communication tools available to you will provide an opportunity for us to share the great things that are happening in Greene!
