NOTICE OF FISCAL YEAR 2026 BUDGET HEARINGS

The Greene County School District will hold Budget Hearings and Millage Rate Hearings on the Fiscal Year 2026 Budget and 2025 Millage Rate.  All concerned citizens were invited to attend these hearings, which will were held at the Greene County Board of Education, located at 101 East Third Street Greensboro, GA 30642, on the following dates:

  • August 14, 2025 at 6:00 p.m.
  • August 21, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. 
  • August 21, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. 

Presentation - FY26 Budget & 2025 Millage Rate

The Greene County Board of Education will consider adoption of the Fiscal Year 2026 budget and 2025 Millage Rate at the Special Called Meeting on August 27, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.

NOTICE OF PROPERTY TAX INCREASE

The Greene County Board of Education has tentatively adopted a 2025 millage rate which will require an increase in property taxes by .91%. Three hearings are required for public discussion, at the dates and times listed above.

This tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 9.847 mills, an increase of 0.089 mills. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 9.758 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a market value of $775,000 is approximately $27.41 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $475,000 is approximately $16.91.
