Title X, Part C: McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth
The McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth program is designed to address the problems that homeless children and youth have faced in enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school. Under this program, State educational agencies must ensure that each homeless child and youth has equal access to the same free, appropriate public education, including a public preschool education, as other children and youth.

School Social Worker and Homeless Education Liaison

In 2017, Mrs. Jennifer Newkirk joined the Greene County School System as the District’s School Social Worker and Homeless Education Liaison.
Mrs. Newkirk served as the Social Worker and Homeless Education Liaison for Dawson County Schools from 2003-2011. She has also worked in outpatient dialysis, assisting patients and their families in adjusting to life threatening chronic medical conditions and confronting the related financial hardships.
Mrs. Newkirk serves all of the schools in the Greene County School System. Her office is located at Greene County High School.
