What is Title I?

  • Title I is a part of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB). A Title I school is a school that receives supplemental federal funding due to a percentage of low-income students. Title I funding is intended to help close the achievement gap between low and high performing schools and ensure that all children have the opportunity to meet challenging State academic content and obtain a high quality education.
