Dr. Laurie Weaver

Originally from Ohio, Dr. Weaver began her teaching career in the Columbus Public School System. She later relocated to Georgia, where she taught in the DeKalb, Rockdale, and Henry County School Systems. In 2015, she joined Greene County as the assistant principal of Union Point STEAM Academy. As the STEAM Coordinator, Dr. Weaver was responsible for developing the school’s STEAM curriculum, planning and instructing weekly STEAM lessons, and organizing special events such as science fairs and drone competitions.

Since 2021, Dr. Weaver has served as the District’s Curriculum Coordinator. In this role, she collaborates closely with instructional coaches at each school to enhance curriculum and instruction, promote personalized learning, and establish STEM education programs. Her efforts are focused on bridging learning gaps by providing GCSS students with non-traditional, hands-on learning experiences that engage them as active learners.
