The Greene County School System has announced its 2023-2024 Teachers of the Year. First grade teacher Cameron Shuler is Greene County Primary School’s Teacher of the Year, sixth grade math teacher Ashley Bridges is Anita White Carson Middle School’s Teacher of the Year, and Greene College & Career Academy Early Childhood Education pathway instructor Laura Ringer is Teacher of the Year at Greene County High School.

Making the Grade: GCSS GA Milestones scores improve in 2022-23, with notable improvement in early literacy
Greene County students continued to show improvement on the 2022-2023 Georgia Milestones assessments, according to the results released by the Georgia Department of Education on July 28. Average scores increased or held steady at each grade band, compared to the 2021-2022 school year, with strong gains displayed in the critical area of third-grade literacy.

The Greene County School System is pleased to welcome Crystal Parten to the district leadership team as the Director of Teaching and Learning. In this role, she will be primarily responsible for curriculum choice, planning, alignment, and implementation, all of which are crucial to a school district’s essential function of teaching and learning.

Greene BOE approves contractor for new elementary school building, expands grade scope
The Greene County Board of Education on Monday night approved Atlanta-based company Evergreen Construction as the construction manager for the new elementary school to be built on Meadow Crest Road. Also in Monday night’s meeting, the BOE voted to expand the scope of the new school to include grades 4 and 5.

ATLAS and Greene County Primary School in lockstep toward student achievement

GCSS unveils design for new Greene County Primary School building
he Greene County School System has released three architectural renderings of the proposed design for the new Greene County Primary School building. The renderings depict the building’s conceptual appearance, which could change slightly based on value engineering, exact positioning on the build site, and the school’s educational program needs.

Congratulations to our 2021-2022 Teachers of the Year! Jennifer Rosenblum is Teacher of the Year at CBJ Preschool, Dana Jackson is Teacher of the Year at Greene County Primary School at Union Point, Morgen Gay is Teacher of the Year at Anita White Carson Middle School, and Megan Calicott is Teacher of the Year at Greene County High School.

GCSS announces mask requirement for students and staff
The Greene County School System announced that effective Wednesday, August 11th, wearing masks will be required for all students and staff inside school buildings and on the school bus. Superintendent Chris Houston directed the change in mask policy after the rate of student cases within the district reached 1%.

Dr. Jody Worth ready for a great school year as new AP at GCPS
Dr. Jody Worth, Greene County Primary School’s new assistant principal, says she is excited to rejoin the Tiger Family and is looking forward to working alongside the GCPS staff this school year to provide an atmosphere that is most conducive to students’ success and growth.
