Velicia is a native of Sparta, Georgia; she is a graduate of Hancock Central High and Athens Technical College. She received an Associate degree in Business Administration from Georgia Military College and her Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership with a concentration in Public Service from Valdosta State University. She is employed by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision at their Greensboro Office. Velicia and her husband own JayRay Trucking, LLC; a flatbed trucking company they started in 2003.


Velicia is the wife of Raymond Cobb, a graduate of Greene-Taliaferro Comprehensive High School. They are the proud parents of four children: Whitney, a 2005 graduate of Greene County High School and a 2012 graduate of Medical College of Georgia’s Physician Assistant program; Tawny, who attended GCHS before moving to Murfreesboro, Tennessee after her sophomore year, she is a 2009 graduate of Blackmon High School and she attended Middle Tennessee State University; Raquel, a 2011 graduate of GCHS and a 2015 graduate of Clemson University; and Jalen, a 2013 graduate of GCHS and he attended Paine College. They are also proud grandparents of two grandsons.


Velicia and her husband attend Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Velicia held the office of Secretary of GES PTA and President of CMS PTO. Velicia has a passion for children and their understanding the importance of taking advantage of a quality education.


As a Board member, Velicia strives to foster strong parental and community involvement. She believes that all must rise to the challenge of ensuring that the educational needs of our children are met with the best education possible. She feels every child should have an equal opportunity to a quality education, because the students who are educated today will become responsible citizens and leaders of tomorrow.
