    Mr. Peek is a native of Greene County.  Before returning to Greene County, Mr. Peek served as the Principal of Veterans Memorial Middle School in Newton County. Prior to being named principal, he served as the Assistant Principal and Athletic Director for Veterans Memorial Middle School. He began his career in education as a high school history teacher. Mr. Peek retired from the US Navy Reserves in 2008 after 20 years of military service.  

    Mr. Peek is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.. He has served as the baseball and basketball coach for Eastside High School in Newton County as well as the sponsor of the Beta Club. He was named Eastside High School Teacher of the Month in December 2000.

    Mrs. DeAndra D. Lanier is a native of Greene County and a product of the Greene County School System. She feels honored to lead Greensoboro Elementary on their administrative team. Mrs. Lanier looks forward to daily collaborating with school personnel, students, and their families to provide challenging instruction for all. She would also like to continue building relationships between the school and the community.

    Always up for a challenge, Mrs. Lanier has been involved in many activities at the school - most recently representing the school district in Leadership Greene with the Greene County Chamber of Commerce. During the 2017-2018 school year, Mrs. Lanier was the Assistant Principal at Anita White Carson Middle School. Previously, Mrs. Lanier was at the Greene County High School as Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction.  Before serving at GCHS and CMS, she served seven years as part of the administrative team  at Greensboro Elementary School.  She has also received her project based leadership certificate with the Georgia Leadership Institute for School Improvement and completed her specialist degree in leadership at Lincoln Memorial University. In addition, she was selected Greene County Teacher of the Year in 2008 where she represented the county at the Professional Association of Educators Leadership Institute.

    Mrs. Lanier is married to Steve Lanier and they have two sons, Peyton and Austin. Living in Greene County, she has her finger on the pulse of the community and takes great pride in being able to work with the next generation of students from this area. She is passionate about sharing the importance of education in the community.

    Dr. Brock is a Greene County High School alumnus and a U.S. Army veteran. He began his career at GCHS as a history teacher and coach in 1993, and was named Teacher of the Month twice. In 2002, he left GCHS for an administrative position and has since served as an assistant principal, principal and director of facilities in several successful school systems. Dr. Brock has been named a Georgia Distinguished Principal and was a recipient of the Mike Campbell Leadership Award in 2011. He was also a finalist for Principal of the Year in 2011, and served on the Governor’s Education Advisory Board from 2010- 2011. Dr. Brock previously led one of the state’s Top 16 middle schools recognized by the Georgia Partnership for Excellence in Education. His previous middle school also won the Effective Middle School Program Award for the state.

    Dr. Brock received his Bachelor of Science degree in History from Georgia College and State University in 1993. He received his Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Educational Leadership from the University of Georgia in 1999 and 2003.

    Dr. Brock served as the assistant principal of GCHS from July 2016 - June 2017.

    As the principal for Union Point STEAM Academy's, Mrs. Ashlie Miller is excited for the opportunity to serve UPSA's students, teachers, and community members! The mission and vision for the school is that UPSA will be recognized as an exemplary school in Georgia, and she looks forward to accomplishing this task with the faculty and staff, as they collaboratively provide outstanding learning opportunities for students.

     

    Mrs. Miller comes from a long line of educators and states that education is in their blood. In 1995, she graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education.  She accepted a long-term substitute position at Union Point Elementary, which evolved into a full time teaching position.   For the next fifteen years, she taught every grade level from second to sixth.  She obtained her Master of Arts degree in Teaching from Piedmont College in 2000 and her Specialist in Educational Leadership degree from Lincoln Memorial University in 2009.  She was honored to be the Teacher of the Year in 2005.  In 2010, she became the Instructional Coach at Union Point Elementary.  In 2012 she was instrumental in writing the charter for UPSA to become focused on a STEM curriculum.  She worked with the local governance board from beginning in March 2016 to increase student achievement for the duration of the charter, which ceased in June 2018.

     

    As a native of Greene County, Mrs. Miller would not want to be any other place than “The Point” and looks forward to continuing to serve the students, staff, and community of Union Point.

    Mrs. Barbara Fuqua has been an educator in the Greene County School system for many years. She began as a volunteer for the Greensboro Dreamers Program, which mentored students in grades 1-12. From 2006-2014, she was a Special Education Lead Teacher and 6th Grade Team Leader at Carson Middle School.  She was appointed the coordinator of the Greene County PREP Center in 2014 and served in this position for two years.  From 2016-2018, Mrs. Fuqua served as Assistant Principal of Greensboro Elementary School.

    Mrs. Fuqua received her Master of Education from the University of Georgia in 2009 and Educational Leadership from Georgia College & State University in 2013.
